Many people do not know this about me, but over 17 years ago, I had several health warning signs staring me in my face. Due to complicated pregnancies, traumatic C-section surgeries, and poor choices, I had gained over 60 pounds. As a result of poor eating and my unhealthy lifestyle, I was always tired, in fact, I actually thought that I had chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) because I lacked the energy to get off the couch! Beside constant exhaustion, I also had hypoglycemia and was depressed and miserable in my own skin. I loathed what I had become! My awakening moment came in the form of a warning dream. In this dream, I pricked my finger to check my blood sugar. Suddenly, to me, it sounded like an audible voice shouted the word, “diabetes.” After I woke up, I reflected on the dream and knew that if I didn’t make a change, I would develop that disease. Now awake and alert to the risk, I sat up in my bed and said, “NO!” It was at this crucial point that I decided that I was NOT going to develop diabetes and just accept this disease as my fate.

My first step was to pray. I also knew that there were some unhealthy eating habits and my lack of exercise that I would have to address. Some issues I could pray about and trust God to do, and other things I needed to change. My turning point came when I made a DECISION that I was going to educate myself and learn how to create new healthy habits. Immediately I began to study and research a large number of books that addressed how and what to eat. I also learned how to exercise my body and to find the right balance between work, play, and rest. I did whatever it took to create new healthy habits and formed new habits that produced positive changes. Looking back, that was one of the best decisions of my life. I never reached my goals overnight, but after some time, I got all the weight off and kept it off! After six months, I began to feel great and had no pre-diabetic issues, and I celebrated the goal of losing ten percent of my body fat! I love the new healthy me! Now I can travel all over the world, work nonstop for 10-12 hours a day, and even after a hard workout, I feel great!

Another major turning point for me happened several years ago when I was asked to preach at one of my best friend’s funeral. My heart was broken at her premature departure! In my heart, I believed that her life was cut short and she went to heaven way before her time, mainly caused by neglecting her health. She was alive in Jesus and had so many people who loved her, and she loved them all deeply. She had a fantastic family and a grandson that she absolutely adored; she loved spending lots of time with him. Then something horrible went wrong, she received the doctors report that she had cancer. Even though many people were praying, in just a few short weeks, she was gone!

Many of us who were close to her could not believe it! We were in shock! She served on my deliverance team and set the captives free by the power of God. How could this tragedy possibly have happened to such a deeply spiritual person? I was angry at sickness and had a total hatred for what cancer does to people. I knew God had not failed; the promises of God are true, and He is a faithful God, but I also realized that her obesity and unhealthy lifestyle had opened the door to sickness. After that devastating blow, it became my passion and unapologetic pursuit to help people learn healthy habits and create a complete lifestyle change. It goes without saying that faith, prayer, and spirituality are essential, but parallel to these truths is healthy living and eating.

Since regaining my health and my friend’s early departure, I became a certified health coach so that I could help people create a healthy lifestyle. This is worth mentioning…before I became a coach, I would share health advice with my friends, but frequently, they didn’t have the willpower to follow this counsel. I soon realized that I needed to find a better way and not rely on something that requires willpower alone. After a season of prayer and searching for the right tools to help people, I finally discovered a fantastic program that empowers people take back their health. Since becoming a health coach, I have successfully helped hundreds of people all over the United States lose weight and become healthy. With passion, I encourage my friends, family, and in fact, everyone that I get to meet, to become healthy. I want to influence everyone, everywhere, to become the better version of themselves. Hundreds of my friends and clients can testify that the program that I offer will work…if you follow the plan!
